“Bravo on a difficult job done well!  Your Performance Ear Training text is an accessible, well crafted, and highly artistic tool which I plan to use in a number of areas of my teaching.
First of all, the combination of text and audio recordings will work wonderfully in my Jazz improvisation class where the primary challenge for me is to accommodate the wide spectrum of abilities and an experiences of my students. Your text offers a hands on guided tour for all instrumentalist and vocalists in the class so that we can establish a common ground of musical and improvisational literacy...
For the several students in my jazz ensemble..., ...your Performance Ear Training text offers a trustworthy and elegant self study map.
Performance Ear Training has my unequivocal endorsement.”
Bill Lowe (Prof.. African American Music and Jazz Studies   Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts

“Donovan Mixon’s Performance Ear Training is a welcome publication for instructors of ear training. Mixon’s unique combination of the “Movable Do” system, the “Sing Then Play” concept, and the “Inner Hearing” idea allows students to internalize these skills and  hone them throughout their careers.”
Guthrie P. Ramsey, Jr. (Prof. of Music  Tufts University )

“The book is great! I would highly recommend it as a supplemental text. Our program uses much of the same kind of thing in a repertoire-based situation. We’ve obviously been thinking along the same lines, but you’re restricted by copyright limitations.
I’m glad you contacted me because after checking your book out, I passed it on to a friend who teaches jazz ear training and he never returned it. I’d like to look at it again so I can be more specific, so I’ll have to get it back from him.”
               All the best,
Evan Solot, Chair of Graduate Studies in Jazz, University of the Arts - School of Music, Philadelphia, PA
